This helmet is definitely a step up from cheaper auto darkening helmets.It's features are very adjustable, so you can dial in your settings for your preference and job requirements.It has modes for welding, cutting and grinding. Each has its own shade settings.It also has sensitivity settings that changes how bright of a light is needed to darken so that overhead lights aren't turning it off all the time.The delay settings that changes how quickly the helmet will undarken after it stops detecting an arc.The modes are easy enough to change, but does require you to take off your gloves to do so and change them from inside the helmet. It has a memory function so that you can quickly change between different types of welding or cutting or whatever.It definitely gets dark very quickly, and makes its very easy to weld.Each panel darkens independently, so if you are welding in front of you, you can see still out of the side panel, or they can protect you if someone else is welding next to you.You can adjust shades on this helmet is halves, meaning 11.5, 12.5, etc.The external lights are nice for places that are harder to get auxiliary lights, such as under a vehicle. They use seperate batteries to help extend the usable time of the main battery.Though, the motion detecting feature for on and off can be annoying if you are in a tight space where any movement can trigger it. Thankfully, it can be turned off.The panoramic view is really nice so you can see more of what's going on around you.The true color is pretty good as well.Its very easy to adjust how it fits your head.The battery life seems pretty good. I was using it for several hours, and it still have plenty of battery left.It comes with spare covers and a nice storage bag.The two reasons that do make it drop it down to 4 stars is that 1, because it's fully digital, is pretty heavy. So after awhile of welding with this on, your neck starts to get a bit strained.2, having to stick your hand inside the make to change settings. It's a bit annoying.Also, you will have to memorize what lights are what, because you can see them with the helmet on, but you can't read anything due to how close it is to your face.For $180, I think it's a good value for the money, and a good investment for your eyes.

Have not bought a new welding helmet in a long time. What a upgrade. So far it is a AWESOME piece of equipment. I have all settings on Auto.

First off, let me just say that this thing works extremely well. I can see well enough to make welds that don't look awful (most of the time). It is extremely fast to react, so I don't burn my eyes. Once it is adjusted, it is a very capable helmet.The problem is that it seems to need set up every single time I used it. It doesn't remember things like delay and shade strength from use to use. So, I have to set those things every single time I turn it on. I definitely prefer just turning the helmet on and getting to work. That is especially true since I'm almost always doing flux core MIG. In other words, the settings are pretty much always the same.It is very adjustable. I can definitely get it dialed in perfectly, no matter what kind of welding I'm doing. I usually do flux core MIG, but I have gas MIG welders, and stick, and TIG. I do a lot of welding, though I am far from a professional welder. I liked this best for TIG, because of the adjustability.The weight is a bit heavier than a cheap helmet. That's not terribly surprising, considering it has built in lights and actually has real, rechargeable batteries instead of a button cell. It's not super heavy or uncomfortable, it's just a bit heavier than average.As far as durability goes, well, it seems about the same as most any welding helmet. I haven't damaged it. It should last a long time, as long as I don't stick my face in what I'm welding. I shouldn't need to do that, because I can see quite well out of this thing. It also has a great viewing angle compared to my old helmet, which just had a little rectangle and nothing for the sides.Value for money is ok, I suppose. It's quite expensive. It is better than a cheap welding helmet, but you are definitely paying for it.

This welding helmet is a gigantic upgrade from my previous cheaper one I got to start off with. I didn't realize how having more peripheral windows would help me feel like I have a clearer view. The immediate adjustment to darken is much faster and more fine tuned than the original one I had. The adjustment is able to fine tune by a digital display vs. a knob on the side that may get bumped and moved. You can find your perfect setting number and always have it on that. It is not super heavy and adjusts up and down smoothly without all the clicks. I did find it heavier than my current one so the tightness on the headband around my head was much harder to get right so the weight didn't make it move around without feeling too tight and causing pain.Once you learn all the controls it isn't awful to use, but it was very hard to learn how to get it all setup. The instruction manual doesn't explain very much for a newer welder (perhaps this is something you learn as you have been welding for a while) so I used a lot of time messing around with buttons to figure out what did what. The writing for the settings on the small LCD are also very tiny and hard to read. You also have to use the internal LCD to adjust shade value instead of a knob on the exterior, so you can't really do on the fly adjustments.The helmet absolutely does its job very well and functions exactly as you would expect with many more features than I am prepared to use, but hope to grow into. I have been able to use it for welding and grinding with separate functions for each. It feels well made and would withstand bumps and drops.Although it is more expensive than what I originally got, I can definitely say the quality is in line with the increased pricing. So I believe it is a fair value for what you get.

The auto-darkening wasn't working right anymore and I needed something with better visibility. This one had the side panels and rechargeable battery I was looking for.Likes:* The viewing area is crazy good. You get the main window plus two side panels that also darken when you strike an arc. I can see way more of my work area without having to move my head around constantly.* The helmet actually reads the arc and darkens to exactly what you need. Doesn't matter if I'm stick welding or doing TIG work.* The battery indicator shows three bars right now and charges through a USB port in the back. The little display tells you exactly how much power you've got left instead of just dying on you.* The LED lights are super fun to use. You wave your hand and they turn on or off. Sounds gimmicky but it's really handy when your hands are full or dirty. You can dial them from dim to really bright with the buttons.* The headband sits on four different spots around your head instead of just squeezing from the sides. Way more comfortable than my old one that left dents in my forehead.No likes:* The hand wave sensor for the lights is a little screwy sometimes. If there's too much ambient light it doesn't always pick up the motion on the first try.* There's a bunch of tiny buttons for the settings menu and they're hard to press with thick gloves on. You figure it out after messing with it for a while.Would I pay full price for this product: YesFinal thoughts:I can actually see what I'm doing from three angles and the helmet does all the thinking for me.

For the price its a steal. Fits good and works just like an expensive one. I use it everyday and couldn't of been happier especially with the price

Well made. Husband has a hard time finding helmets that fit his head. This one is super adjustable.

This was a gifts for my husband. He said it was much better than others. He was comfortable and had a larger view than others. It was easy to use. Quality was great! Recommend
